CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State second baseman Travis Bazzana has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
It’s Bazzana’s second honor this season, following recognition following the first three games of the season. It’s also the third by a Beaver this season as Mason Guerra was announced as the selection on Feb. 26. It’s the first time since a Pac-12 club has earned the honor in three straight weeks since 2017 when OSU’s Cadyn Grenier, KJ Harrison and Nick Madrigal received the award.
It’s also the first time since Washington State in 1984 that one team has earned the honor in each of the first three weeks of a season.
Bazzana hit safely in three of the Beavers’ four games against North Dakota State, collecting five hits in 12 at bats. He drove in eight runs – two in the first game and three apiece in games two and three – while walking 10 times.
He tallied two triples and a home run, with the long ball coming Friday night and spurring a five-run seventh inning as the Beavers came back to defeat the Bison, 6-5.
Bazzana and the Beavers host CSUN Thursday at 5:35 p.m. PT to open a four-game series at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field
