Texas Receiver Commits to Oregon State

Big news for Oregon State on Friday night as Waco (Tex.) Midway wide receiver Hunter Jarmon ended his recruitment and committed to Coach Riley and the Beavers. The 6-foot, 190 pound receiver held offers from a dozen Big 12 and Pac 12 universities, and was supposed to be visiting Texas Tech this weekend, but cancelled the visit after committing tonight.

"It felt like home at Oregon State and they definitely made me feel like family. Even the people outside of football made me feel at home," he said. "I had a gut feeling after my trip and it never went away."

Coach Riley also made a big impact on him when he visited Corvallis in early November when the Beavers played Arizona State.

"I had a really strong connection with Coach Riley," he said. "It was more like a father-son relationship than a player-coach. I loved him."

Jarmon also enjoyed watching and cheering for the Beavers as they took on Texas in the Alamo Bowl. Coach Brennan made a visit by the Jarmon home yesterday and it sealed the deal.

"Coach Brennan came for an in-home yesterday and he won over my Mom and Dad," Jarmon laughed. "They are pumped for me to be a Beaver. Coach Riley will be making an in-home visit with me next week."

Rated as the 67th best overall prospect in the state of Texas in football, he is equally gifted on the baseball diamond. He confirmed that the plan is for him to play both sports at Oregon State.

"When I was on my visit I spent two and a half hours talking with the baseball coach and in talking with the football coaches I'll be able to work around spring and play both baseball and football during my freshman year at Oregon State."

Jarmon said that he is fully qualified and that he is finished with recruiting.

"I will not be taking any more trips or talking to anyone else," he concluded. "I am only looking at Oregon State."
