During the spring evaluation period that is wrapping up in a couple of weeks, the Oregon State Beavers have been busy all across the country.
The coaches have been in several of their key states in the West, but they're in the southeast as well, and those southeastern states have been good to the Beavers. They landed Justin Gardner and Quantino Allen in the 2017 class, who are high upside prospects for OSU.
The Beavers have been recruiting Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek cornerback Jonathan Gipson hard and offered him back on March 1. Cory Hall, OSU's cornerbacks coach, is leading the charge for the Beavs in Gipson's recruitment.
Hall had a short stint in the NFL, playing for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Atlanta Falcons. Gipson is an Atlanta native.
"He's an Atlanta man," Gipson said about Hall. "If you played in Atlanta as a Falcon, people are going to know you. Me and coach Hall developed a good relationship. He first hit me up like six months ago."
