Portland Tribune's Kerry Eggers, one of the most well respected and most connected writers in the OSU media, reported on Tuesday that Stanford offensive coordinator Mike Bloomgren has interviewed for the job, per his source.

Eggers also reported that OSU interim head coach Cory Hall, Washington offensive coordinator Jonathan Smith, and Cal offensive coordinator Beau Baldwin have interviewed for the job. BeaversEdge.com has confirmed that report.

Bloomgren's name has been lightly mentioned by media outlets and BeaversEdge.com sources throughout the coaching search, so if Bloomgren really did interview with Oregon State, that would come as a mild surprise.

One thing that is interesting about Bloomgren is that last Wednesday, there was a story by SFGate.com about how Bloomgren should be a college head coach, and now there's this Eggers rumor that Bloomgren has interviewed for the Oregon State job.

How much is this Bloomgren wanting to boost his profile? Or could Bloomgren really be serious about the job, and OSU serious about him? Time will certainly tell as athletic director Scott Barnes finishes up the coaching search.

Bloomgren, 40, is from Tallahassee, Fla. and played at Culver-Stockton College in Missouri. He took a huge coaching jump from Delta State to the New York Jets as a quality control coach. A couple of years later, Bloomgren was the assistant offensive coordinator for the Jets.

Bloomgren became Stanford's run game coordinator and offensive line coach in 2011. He is presently the assistant head coach, offensive line coach, and offensive coordinator.
