CORVALLIS, Ore. – Quarterback Tristan Gebbia (pronounced JEB-ee-uh), has joined the Oregon State football program as a transfer from Nebraska, head coach Jonathan Smith announced Monday.

Gebbia, who did not play in 2017 and will join the team as a redshirt freshman, left Calabasas High School in Southern California as the second-leading passer in California prep history. He passed for 13,109 yards and 141 touchdowns.

His senior year, Gebbia passed for 5,338 yards, on the strength of a better than 70-percent completion percentage, and 61 touchdowns, leading Calabasas to a 14-1 record. In the Division 2-AA Regional Final, he passed for 557 yards and seven touchdowns in a 60-53 overtime loss.

Gebbia was rated as a consensus top-12 pro-style quarterback coming out of Calabasas. Rivals.com had him at No. 6, while he was rated 10th by 247Sports and 12th by ESPN. He was the No. 115 overall prospect nationally by Rivals.com.

The Calabasas, Calif., native was a three-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection and earned Brook Berringer and Tom Osborne Citizenship Team honors.

Gebbia joins linebacker Avery Roberts, who joined the program from Nebraska last week.

Due to NCAA transfer rules, Gebbia will not be eligible to play in 2018, and will enter the 2019 season as a redshirt sophomore.
