Sacramento (Calif.) Christian Brothers quarterback Gunnor Faulk was playing his high school ball in Atlanta, but he moved out to the west coast. He's a part of a military family and matters called for a move out west.
Faulk, who started as a sophomore on a state championship team in 2015, is now being recruited by west coast schools as well as a few Ivy League schools.
He's been in touch with Washington State and recently took visits to Oregon and Oregon State. Faulk spoke about his OSU trip for the Beavers' spring game with BeaversEdge.com.
"It was great - being able to talk to the coaches," Faulk said. "I talked to the quarterbacks coach [Kevin McGiven] for a good bit. There was a meeting in his office with a couple of the other quarterback [recruits] there.
"They said it was good that I came for the visit. I'm definitely on their radar and they want to see more out of me this season."
Faulk is the quarterback for the TMP Elite Mafia 7v7 that Oregon State fans that follow recruiting are familiar with. There were four 2017 recruits that played for TMP last season that signed with Oregon State.
Say what you will about 7v7 "football," but as a quarterback, it has helped Faulk.
"It's been really good," Faulk said. "In Georgia, I didn't do 7v7 much, and it's definitely slowing the game down for me. I'm getting better at manipulating the defense. It's really nice to throw to college type athletes at TMP. It helps slow down everything for me."
Faulk is 7v7 and high school teammates with Spencer Webb, a tight end recruit that Oregon State offered during the spring game visit.
"Me and Spencer Webb are pretty tight friends," Faulk said. "He got his offer on the visit, and I was right outside of the visit when he got it. [TMP to Corvallis] is definitely a pipeline."
Faulk does not hold his first scholarship offer yet but a lot of schools are coming to see him this spring during the evaluation period.
