Three-star California tight end Jake Peters' recruitment hasn't blown up like he hoped it would, but that's because the injuries he's suffered.

Last summer during a camp, he tore his achilles which forced him to miss the all-important junior season.

The injury came a few weeks after he earned his first offer from the University of Washington, and it's likely that the floodgates were about to open in terms of him receiving other offers.

Schools are now waiting to see how Peters bounces back from his injury, and thankfully for Peters, he is back to 100%. He played for his high school's basketball team this season.

"[College coaches] are waiting to see if I'm healthy," Peters said. "It's tough because during my sophomore year, I got mono and lost about 20 pounds. I never really got back to my normal self that year. I played eight games and just wasn't my normal self. I had a really strong spring last year and Washington finally decided to pull the trigger, but then two weeks later I got hurt."

The Oregon State Beavers' coaching staff has interest in Peters, and they invited him to Corvallis to check out their annual spring game. Peters recapped the visit with BeaversEdge.com.

"I really liked it," Peters said. "I went there last year during my spring break, and my sister goes to University of Oregon, so I've been up there a few times. I really like the vibe there; coach Andersen has a really good thing going. I see them as a school on the rise in the Pac-12, for sure."

Peters has been in touch with the OSU staff and is building a relationship with them.

"I've been talking with coach Wozniak for a while now, and I finally got to meet coach Baldwin face-to-face," said Peters. "Coach Klune has been to my school a few times because he's my area recruiter down here in southern California."

Oregon State has not offered Peters yet, but that could change if he impresses the staff this spring during the evaluation period.
