Armwood High School has a loaded backfield with Ohio State commit Brian Snead and three-star running back Jerome Ford, who are both 2018 prospects. Armwood is a perennial powerhouse in the state of Florida, and college coaches regularly come by to check out their prospects whenever the NCAA rules allow them to.

Ford, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound recruit, saw the fruits of his labor pay off with new scholarship offers this spring.

"I got a couple of more offers - Cincinnati, FIU, and I think Oregon State was this spring," Ford said.

From Oregon State, Ford is keeping in touch with Oregon State running backs coach Telly Lockette, who is OSU's recruiter in the state of Florida.

"Yeah me and coach Lockette are cool," Ford said. "Anytime I'll text him, he'll respond."

When asked about his relationship with coach Lockette, Ford said, "It's good; it's really good. We just be coolin."

Proximity to home is a factor often time for a recruit. A lot of recruits might not want to go too far from home, but it might be the opposite for Ford.

He noted that Oregon State is not too far away for him, but a local school might be too close.

"I like USF a lot. The problem is that it might be too close to home," he said.

Ford is planning to take a trip north for a visit in a couple of weeks.

"I should go be going to Cincinnati on the 17th and 18th. I'll be flying up there," he said.

Ford currently has five schools on the top of his recruitment, and those are the five schools he'd like to take official visits to this fall.

"Oregon State, of course USF, Toledo, Iowa State, and Cincinnati," Ford said.
