Hawaii has been good to Oregon State over the past few years of Gary Andersen's regime in Corvallis. Andersen always talks about how big of a positive it is to recruit Polynesian prospects.

The Beavers signed Onesimus Lutu-Clarke, Kesi Ah-Hoy, and Charles Watson from Hawaii in the class of 2017.

Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis safety Isaiah Tufaga received his first Pac-12 offer when Oregon State threw their hat in the mix.

"I've been in contact with Oregon State for a while now with coach Chad Kauha'aha'a," Tufaga said. "He came down during one of our practices for spring recruiting. He offered me on the spot. That's how it came about, but we've been talking before that.

"I was happy. That's the Pac-12 - big time football. It shows that they believe in me and my abilities. I was pretty happy about that."

Kauha'aha'a has proven his worth as an ace recruiter for the Beavers, specifically when it comes to recruiting Hawaii and Polynesian prospects across the West.

"He's a great guy," Tufaga said. "He knows us Poly kids and what we want. He relates to us pretty easy, and we relate to him."

Not only is Tufaga close with Kauha'aha'a, he is good friends with Ah-Hoy as well. They've talked about the idea of playing together at OSU.

"Me and Kesi were talking about it. We'll see," Tufaga said. "A lot of people from where I'm from go there. So I'm pretty familiar with them and the university itself. I'm hoping to take a visit there this summer to check it out."

USC and Utah have been expressing Tufaga interest but have not offered yet. Tufaga plans to camp at USC's Rising Stars camp this month.
