The Commitment
When you talk about early commitments for Oregon State, these are the type of potential recruits I see making early pledges - in-state prospects and out-of-state recruits that have ties to the program.
Of the Beavers' three commitments, they all fit into the latter option of out-of-state recruits that have ties to Oregon State. Deshon Wilson has the TMP tie, Isaac Hodgins' brother plays at OSU, and Halid Djibril has two teammates that signed with OSU in the 2017 cycle.
Djibril was offered by Oregon State last fall and kept in close contact with Beavers' staff, even though they were mainly focused on 2017 recruits at that time. Djibril formed a close relationship with cornerbacks' coach Cory Hall, which put the Beavs over the top of schools like Colorado, Boise State, Boston College, Iowa State, Washington State, and others. Of course, the connection he has with Arex Flemings and Jeffrey Manning, who Djibril calls his best friends, obviously helped too.
