Who is Thomas Tyner?

Thomas Tyner was the No. 2 running back, the No. 17 overall player in the country, and the No. 1 recruit in the state of Oregon back in the class of 2013

He was known for his phenomenal game in which he ran for 643 yards and ten touchdowns in a single game against Lakeridge H.S. in a 84-63 epic shootout during his senior season. Tyner dominated as a senior with 3,415 yards and 47 total touchdowns.

Tyner missed half of his junior season with an injury but still rushed for 1,136 yards and 12 touchdowns. Tyner dodged injury issues during his senior season at Aloha H.S. in Beaverton, but he couldn't dodge them during his college career in Eugene.

In two seasons at Oregon, he rushed for 1,284 yards and 14 touchdowns. He averaged 6.2 yards per carry his freshman year on his way to piling up 711 yards and nine touchdowns.

Tyner was forced to sit out the 2015 season due to having shoulder surgery. He injured the shoulder during the 2014 season, but Tyner did not believe it was as serious as it ended up being. Tyner also had ankle issues during his time at Oregon.

Tyner decided to medically retire from Oregon a couple of months after the 2015 season.

Thomas Tyner to Oregon State?

Tyner told John Canzano of the Oregonian that he plans on enrolling at Oregon State and suiting up for the Beavers' football team. While Tyner noted that OSU is the only school he's considering, a source told ESPN that Tyner has to "clear a few more hurdles" before doing so. It does seem that all signs are pointing towards Tyner ending up in a Beaver uniform this fall.

Whether or not Tyner will be on scholarship at Oregon State is another question. Tyner is from Beaverton, so it makes walking on much more manageable. Either way, it's a situation that will resolve itself soon. Oregon State seems to have the scholarship numbers to fit Tyner in, and with him being a former five-star prospect, it seems like he's a slam dunk player to take a chance on.
