Despite a 36-33 loss to Colorado on Saturday, the Beavers showed an energy under interim coach Cory Hall that was non-existent under Gary Andersen. Below are the five things that we learned under Hall.

1. The Beavers brought the swagger
We heard all week from the players and coaches that the team was juiced up and prepared to bring a new energy under Hall, but at the time it was just talk. Many fans wanted to see the Beavers put their money where their mouth was and boy oh boy did they deliver.
Hall inspired the Beavers and had them focused, and energized from the moment that they emerged from the locker room. From the opening kickoff, the Beavers flew around the field and made plays with a little extra motivation than I have ever seen covering this team in the Andersen era. Despite the loss, the Beavers will be very exciting for the rest of the season if they continue to play with this amount of edge.
2. OSU played football for four quarters
Other than the Beavers win over Portland State. which was nothing to be excited about, the Beavers finally played for four complete quarters for arguably the first time in the Andersen/Hall era. No disrespect to the Oregon or Arizona game last year, but this was the best that the Beavers have played from start to finish against an opponent that is much better than AZ or UO. It’s surprising to me that it took an interim coach to make the Beavers compete for four quarters, but it’s pretty obvious that the Beavers needed a fresh face around their team.
