Quick Hits

- With the Oregon State offense having the difficult task of facing Utah's dominant defense, offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren noted that patience is going to be paramount in this contest. With the front seven that the Utes boast, Lindgren noted that three to four-yard runs are going to be very positive plays and that as a play-caller, he needs to stay patient because the bigger, chunk plays could come later.

- Lindgren also echoed head coach Jonathan Smith's comments from earlier in the week when he noted that the Beavers have to execute their balanced offensive gameplan to be successful. The Utes have a dominant run defense, but OSU is going to be patient and look to establish the run game early because it'll help open up the rest of the offense.

- Lindgren also added that running back Jermar Jefferson, who's been hampered by an ankle injury suffered against Hawaii, is getting better each day, but that it's a day by day thing. He added that he's made great progress, but that the Beavers want him at 100 percent.

Quotes

Brian Lindgren on Jake Luton's performance

"He had a great game. He was able to put four quarters together, made great decisions, and was really accurate in the red zone. He was efficient, took care of the football, and we're hoping he can continue that play moving forward."

Lindgren on spreading the ball around offensively

"We have got a lot of talented skill-position players and we want to take advantage of their skill sets. We've done a nice job getting those other guys involved, but we'll continually look to spread it around to take the pressure off of (Isaiah) Hodgins in the passing game."

Lindgren how the Beavers move Hodgins for the best matchups

"We try and move him around because he's a really talented player. He can play in the slot, the outside, and so trying to be creative with where he'll be to keep the defense guessing is always something we're working on."

Lindgren on Utah's defense

"They present every kind of challenge. It all starts upfront because (Utah's) front is one of the most talented in the country. The other thing about their defense is that they're extremely well-coached and rally to the ball. Maybe you hit a seam, but they're right there shutting it down. Their secondary is also really talented... they're one of the best in the country and one of the best we've ever faced. It'll be a tremendous challenge."
