August 16 Practice Nuggets

- Today's practice was full of highlights from both the offense and the defense - with even some new faces stepping on the field to make some plays. Play making abilities on both side is at an all time high for this team.

- Redshirt freshman Connor Laverty stepped in and took reps with the second team offense today. Laverty made three impressive catches thrown from both quarterbacks Jake Luton and Darell Garretson.

- Jay Irvine looks looks like the next best cornerback behind all-american Xavier Crawford. On four different occasions today, Irvine broke up passes that looked next to impossible to get to. With such a long frame, it is going to be difficult for and passes to be completed on Irvine.

- Landry Payne took reps with the first team defense today along side of Brandon Arnold. This is a big shake up to what I have usually been seeing at the other safety spot. I have been used to seeing Jalen Moore and David Morris split reps in that spot. Today, Moore and Morris split reps with the second team defense.
