2016 Recap
Unfortunately for Villamin, he took a big step back in the 2016 season. He struggled with consistency all season and eventually lost his starting spot to Timmy Hernandez. He was able to get back in the starting fold when Seth Collins missed the remainder of the season with an illness and had a very nice game against Arizona in the second to last game of the season as he caught six passes for 124 yards and a touchdown.
2017 Outlook
Gary Andersen said it best, the Beavers need Jordan Villamin to have a huge senior season. Personally, I couldn’t agree more. This is Villamin’s last rodeo, and he will need to have a big year for the Beavers to be a better team. His size and speed make him very difficult to cover, and he should feast on Pac-12 secondary’s in his senior season. I expect him to be a very vocal leader, set the bar for the entire receiving corps, and potentially be a 1,000 yard receiver for the Beavers.
Greaves' take on Villamin
For each player in the BeaversEdge Top 20, Marcus Greaves will provide analysis of each player. Greaves played for Oregon State from 2014-2017 and has joined BeaversEdge.com as a football analyst.
Villamin has always been a deadly weapon for the Beavers. Yet, with his remarkable size and hands, he has found himself out of the rotation at WR at times last season. It is going to be interesting to see what Villimin does for the Beavers this season. He is a great deep threat, but with the struggles the Beavers have had with landing deep balls, it's going to be hard to utilize Villamin like they can. If the Beavers can keep a consistent QB in with a accurate deep ball, Villamin could be putting up huge numbers.
