2016 Recap
Irvine only played four games for the Beavers in 2016 because of a shoulder injury and that really limited his ability to make headway in his redshirt freshman season. He recorded six tackles in those four games and appeared to be mature well beyond his years. It’s unfortunate for OSU that he was hurt in 2016 because he could have made a significant impact in the secondary when guys like Dwayne Williams went down with mid-season injuries.
2017 Outlook
Irvine is primed to make a big impact on the secondary in 2017. It’s unclear where exactly he will play in the secondary, but I see him as a big time nickelback or cornerback. His frame (6’1 201) makes him very versatile and I think he will have a big season for the Beavers wherever he ends up on the field.

"A physical, agile, and lanky cornerback, Irvine has big shoes to fill with the departure of Decoud. I don’t think the Pac-12 is going to know if Decoud truly left or not, because this kid can ball. Irvine is very skilled and truly understands his position. The kid has unbelievable work ethic and loves to compete. Much like Decoud, he has a big chip on his shoulder, and I think brings swag to the defensive side of the ball. He posted a incredible 42 inch vertical, which means if the ball is up in the air, he is going to get it. Look out for this kid in the upcoming season he is going to make a lot of noise." -Marcus Greaves
