2016 Recap

Jalen Moore was another breakout player for the OSU defense before suffering an injury late in the season that cut his season short. Moore showed flashes of being one of the most versatile players in the OSU secondary as he can play both safety positions and nickel. As a freshman, he totaled 19 tackles, which was 3rd among freshman at OSU.

2017 Outlook

Moore appears to be locked in at the safety position opposite of Brandon Arnold in the 2017 season. His unique blend of size, speed, and defensive swagger make him a candidate to fill the leadership void left by Devin Chappell. I anticipate him having a big sophomore season.

Greaves' take on Moore

For each player in the BeaversEdge Top 20, Marcus Greaves will provide analysis of each player. Greaves played for Oregon State from 2014-2017 and has joined BeaversEdge.com as a football analyst.

As such a young player, it is only right to give the crown of hardest hitter to Moore. He is young, reckless, and will meet the ball carrier in the hole. He has proven that he belongs in the rotation at safety. I expect Moore to take over the starting safety spot as a compliment to Arnold. As I have competed against him, the one thing I can say he brings to the defense is tough, gritty, smash mouth football, which is what Anderson wants. At times, he may live or die on the big hit, which can be a problem if he misses the tackle, but he’s going to be a force in the secondary.
