There was a tad bit of late drama in Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis athlete Isaiah Tufaga's recruitment as he considered skipping the early signing period considering that the Beavers don't have any defensive coaches. However, Tufaga bought into Smith's vision for the program, and the 6-foot-1, 195-pound hard hitting recruit is officially a Beaver. Tufaga is a linebacker/safety hybrid and a prospect that OSU has been targeting for a long time.

Quotable: "Coming off my official visit, I was going to commit when I got back home," Tufaga said in early November. "I was talking about it with my parents. Then shortly after, they had the coaching change, so that altered my [decision]. I was talking with the other commits, and they've been pushing me and pushing me. A lot of old teammates are over there, so that also helps."
