In a day that Beaver fans needed good news, they received good news when Lake Oswego (Ore.) quarterback/athlete Jake Dukart committed to Oregon State.

Dukart was originally committed to Arizona State on a baseball scholarship but decided to pursue other options. He found his best fit at Oregon State.

"I knew Corvallis was the right spot for me," Dukart said. "Coach Andersen is the coach that fits my personality well - it's the blue collar, hard work ethic type thing. I'm overall super excited to be in Corvallis and be a part of what coach A has going on there."

Not only will Dukart suit up in Reser Stadium, he'll also be playing on the diamond in Goss Stadium for Pat Casey's baseball team.

When BeaversEdge.com first spoke to Dukart after receiving the OSU football offer, Dukart was leaning towards not playing baseball in college. However, that has changed after speaking with Andersen and Casey about it.

"It was really getting the both coaches to play both sports. Coach Andersen said from the start that it was definitely an option, and then coach Casey reached out to me about playing both," Dukart said. "They made it happen, and it's definitely a bonus for me. It's a sport I've worked at my entire life."

Dukart is getting right to work in helping Oregon State land some of their top targets.

"I've actually already reached out to a couple guys to try to get people to follow my lead," Dukart said. "I'm excited to join the Beaver family."
