Following a regular season Pac-12 championship, and playing for the Pac-12 Tournament crown in Seattle, the Oregon State Women’s basketball team was all smiles on Monday afternoon when they heard their name called.

The Beavers will be hosting the NCAA First and Second rounds in Gill Coliseum for the third straight season.

Friday/Sunday Matchup

First up this Friday at 2:00 p.m. the Beavers will be playing Long Beach State who comes into Corvallis as a 15 seed, after winning the Big West tournament to earn their automatic bid. The 49ers come into Corvallis with a record of 23-10 (10-4 Big West).

If OSU should defeat LBSU on Friday, they will matchup with the winner of the Creighton-Toledo game also taking place in Corvallis. Creighton comes in as a 7 seed, and Toledo as a 10 seed. The Beavers would play Creighton or Toledo on Sunday with time TBA.

Should the Beavers defeat LBSU and the winner of Creighton-Toledo, they will stay on the west coast and head to Stockton, California for the Sweet Sixteen and the Elite Eight.

If we also want to look at positive news for the Beavers, it’s that they are on the opposite side of the bracket as UConn. The Huskies met the Beavers in the Final Four last season and defeated them 80-51. This year, if the Beavers should make it so far, they could potentially meet UConn in the national title game.

Looking Ahead

I will have an in depth story Wednesday morning about OSU’s road in the NCAA Tournament and who could be contenders and pretenders along the way.
