OSU adds talented wing in Zach Reichle

Oregon State announced the signing of Wilsonville (Ore.) small forward Zach Reichle on Thursday.

The three-star 2017 recruit had a very long list of scholarship offers that he never released publicly. Reichle was not one to put himself in the spotlight during his process. He was more focused on his schoolwork and making himself better on the court.

Reichle is an in-state prospect that the Beavers were able to keep from his other finalist, UC Irvine.

"We wanted to make the northwest, and more specifically the state of Oregon, really our epicenter as far as recruiting goes when we got here in May of 2014," Oregon State head coach Wayne Tinkle said. "He emerged on our '[recruits] to watch' radar, and we followed his progress. When June 15th of his sophomore year hit, when we could start making calls, we did that."

When Reichle talked to BeaversEdge.com about his decision to commit to Oregon State last month, he mentioned how comfortable he left at OSU.

"He and his family have been down to campus multiple times," Tinkle said. "We really developed that relationship, and then when we received his commitment, we were overjoyed with the prospects of not only bringing in him but also his incredible family into the Beaver family."

On the court, Tinkle is very excited about what Reichle will bring to Oregon State.

"He’s one of the best wings in the Northwest who can shoot it with range," stated Tinkle. "He’s very, very competitive and tough nosed. He has really improved his overall game and ability to get to the rim, get fouled and finish. He’s another talented prospect and we expect him to contribute right away. We wanted to make Oregon the center of our recruiting and adding one of the top players in our area is a real credit to the program and the direction we are heading."

Reichle had several offers from Ivy League schools, which shows what a smart young man he is in the classroom.

"He is a winner, and it's not just on the basketball court," Tinkle said. "If you look at a lot of the guys that we've brought in our program, they come from winning programs. They come with great academic resumes. It's shown in the increase of our team GPA. We're trying to bring in guys that are going to do it the right way and represent Beaver Nation."
