David Ugwoegbu received a call from his older brother Bright Ugwoegbu, an outside linebacker at Oregon State, a couple of Fridays ago.

David was just expecting a chat with his brother, but that's not where the call went. Bright talked with his brother for a moment, and then handed the phone to Brian Wozniak, a graduate assistant at OSU.

"I was on my way home, and my brother gave me a call. He said that there was someone that wanted to talk to me," Ugowoegbu said. "He put the Oregon State coach on the phone, and he talked to me for a couple of minutes. Towards the end of the conversation, he told me that he wanted to offer me a scholarship.

"I couldn't believe it. I was really excited to get that offer from them with my brother being there."

The 6-foot-5, 215-pound tight end recruit was truly honored to receive the offer from the Beavers.

"My brother was great coming out of high school, so I was thinking that any school that he'd go to is a great organization," Ugwoegbu said. "To get an offer from them shows that I'm heading in the right direction."

Bright is a redshirt junior this season and David is a 2019 prospect, so they wouldn't play at OSU together, but David still sees value in following in his brother's footsteps at OSU.

"I've been to his games before. I really like the facilities and how much of a college town it is," Ugwoegbu said. "I want to go to a place like that - where the whole city is on the same page and rooting for the school."

Ugwoegbu also holds early scholarship offers from Oklahoma State and Nebraska. The Cowboys offered Ugwoegbu first, the day before the Beavs offered earlier in May.

"I was so excited. I was not expecting that one at all," he said about the Oklahoma State offer. "It was so surreal for me."
