Torrance (Calif.) Bishop Montgomery point guard Gianni Hunt committed to Oregon State on August 7, but he hadn't visited Corvallis since a year before his decision.

But the talented three-star 2019 prospect was back in Corvallis over the weekend, as he made his official visit to Oregon State. He met with tutors, counselors, and saw Oregon State's new locker room that wasn't finished when Hunt was on campus last.

"They added a new jumbotron at Gill. It's amazing," added Hunt. "There's a lot stuff I saw on this trip that I didn't see last year."

The food was also a highlight of Hunt's trip, as was the city of Corvallis.

"The whole city is pretty much Oregon State," Hunt said. "Everywhere you go, you see orange and black and Beaver gear. It's amazing."

When Hunt was uncommitted, that's when he and the coaching staff had more serious basketball talk. Now that Hunt is a Beaver pledge, he was able to just enjoy the weekend with his future coaches.

"I spent a lot of time with coach Stevie Thompson," said Hunt. "He was the main coach I was with a lot. The whole staff was there; I spent a lot of time with all of the coaches."

Hunt had a good time hanging out with his future teammates. The host on his trip was actually one of his old high school teammates from a couple years back.

"Ethan Thompson was my host. We have a good relationship. I had fun with him," Hunt said.

Hunt enjoyed the football game atmosphere.

"The football game was lit. There was a lot of people there," he said. "I sat with the students; I had never done that before. It was a good experience."

When basketball recruits visits schools, they are allowed to participate in open gyms (aka pick up games against current players) as long as the coaching staff isn't involved in it whatsoever. The Beavers did have a pickup game during the weekend, but Hunt just watched.

He gave his thoughts on a couple players who stood out to him.

"Stevie Jr. he always impresses me," Hunt said. "The stuff he does, he makes it look so effortless. He looks so smooth. Jordan Campbell actually impressed me. He was hitting a lot of jumpers. He's athletic and can get to the basketball. He showed me that he can hit his jumper."
