Cordasco is ready to begin career at Oregon State

Valley Glen (Calif.) Los Angeles Valley C.C. offensive tackle Clay Cordasco decided on his official visit over the weekend to Oregon State that he wanted to commit to the Beavers.

Cordasco's journey to his final college home in Corvallis has been on a long journey. He is from Maine and played two years of junior college ball in California. Now he's headed to the Pacific Northwest to suit up for Oregon state.

"Once I landed [in Corvallis], it was like I was at home - the terrain, the people, it just really reminded me of home and that made me feel really comfortable," Cordasco said. "The players were really nice guys, and the biggest thing for me was that the coaches really, really seemed like they had your back. I can trust them, and they really care about me.

"I like the offensive schemes that they run. There are a bunch of good factors."

As is the case with most junior college prospects, Cordasco, who stands at 6-foot-6, 310-pounds, didn't mind being far from home again for his division one home.

"I remember back early in the recruiting process for me, coaches would ask if location is a problem," Cordasco said. "With me going from Maine to Los Angeles, I don't think I could go much farther.

"The way that Oregon State is, it made me feel like home."

While the feel of Corvallis certainly helped put the Beavs over the top of Texas Tech and Nevada, Cordasco loved the Oregon State coaching staff as well.

"They told me that there wasn't a want factor, there was a need," explained Cordasco. "They needed me due to injury and kids graduating, they did not have a lot of depth at the tackle position, so that's why they were recrutiing me. They thought that I could come in and make a difference."

Cordasco comes to OSU as a true junior (three years to play two).

"I'm a physical player and I want to dominate out there," he said.
