BeaversEdge.com continues its Q&A series as we talked with new Oregon State quarterback Jake Luton, who signed with the Beavs last Wednesday.

Are there any funny stories during your recruitment that you'd like to share?

Luton: "Yeah, I have a pretty good one actually. My second game of the year, we played against Mount San Antonio College, and at the time, they were No. 1 in the rankings. We played them, and I came out with a quarterback's worst nightmare. It's the worst I ever played in my life. I never had at anything like it. I threw four picks in the first quarter, and it was just a train wreck. I felt like I couldn't even complete a pass. It was ridiculous. I got out of that and got in a groove in the second quarter and threw a couple of touchdowns. At halftime, a few of my teammates told me that Oregon State was here watching. I was like, 'No way, you have to be kidding man.' I didn't think they were going to recruit me, there's no way. I ended up throwing four touchdowns and had the game winning touchdown pass. I still didn't feel very good about it. Six weeks later, they gave me a call, and it was funny how things worked out."

You threw a lot more interceptions in the first half of the season than you did later in the season. Was there anything you changed mechanic-wise? What happened?

Luton: "I wouldn't say it was mechanics-wise. I think it was more schematically and getting chemistry with the wide receivers at Ventura. I got a better understanding of the offense. I got to Ventura and basically had fall camp - picked up the offense in three weeks."

Speaking of your teammates, Oregon State recently offered Vosean Crumbie. Are you talking to him about coming to Oregon State?
