BAM BAM! Oregon State lands Matthew Tago
Quartz Hill (Calif.) outside linebacker Matthew Tago announced his commitment to the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday evening, giving OSU a monstrous commitment.
Oregon State has made the outside linebacker position a priority, and they got their top guy on the board in Tago, who picked OSU over other finalists Nebraska and Utah. Tago, a former UCLA commit, also held offers from the likes of USC, Boise State, Colorado, and Washington State.
The Beavers quickly made up ground for Tago in the month of July, and the Polynesian community at Oregon State helped the Beavers' cause.
Tago bolsters an outside linebacker group and could see the field as a true freshman. He is a terrific overall athlete, who had an incredible senior season as a quarterback, throwing for 3,173 yards and 38 touchdowns. Tago also added 16 rushing touchdowns.
Defensively, the two-way standout recorded 61 tackles and 11 tackles for loss.
"It was great meeting all the coaches and got to meet some of the players too," Tago said following his offiical visit. "We got a tour of the campus and all the facilities. It was a great place, everything about it was nice -- a great atmosphere."
