San Mateo (Calif.) Junipero Serra center Jack Wilson is an Oregon State Basketball commitment. While Oregon State could certainly use a big many with Wilson's 7-foot-1, 260-pound size this upcoming season, Wilson is just a high school junior and is a part of OSU's 2018 class.

Wilson committed to the Beavers last October and updated his commitment with BeaversEdge.com.

"It's going well. I'm staying in contact with all of the [OSU] coaches," Wilson said. "They've been out to watch me. I'm looking forward to being up there."

Wilson has had schools reach out to him since he committed to the Beavers, but he has kindly turned them down and told them that he was solid with Wayne Tinkle's program.

"I believe in what they have going on there and I'm excited about the commitments they got for the 2017 class," Wilson said. "It's a great fit and looking forward to it.

"I really do feel very strongly in what Oregon State is doing and the environment that they've built. Coach Tinkle is going to be a great coach for me. It's a great fit. I knew after visiting Oregon State and seeing what they were doing there that it was going to be my best fit."

The Beavers had a forgettable 2016-17 season after a memorable 2015-16 season. None of it has phased Wilson though.

"Coming into the whole thing, I knew I wasn't committing for wins and losses that are happening two years before I'd be there," he explained. "I was looking forward to being a part of what they're building.

"Whether or not Drew [Eubanks] and Stevie [Thompson] are back, Tres [Tinkle] will be a big boost for them. I really trust in what coach Tinkle has planned and they'll adjust."

Oregon State's top recruit in the 2017 class is Stevie's younger brother, Ethan Thompson, a talented guard that Wilson is familiar with.

"He's great as a point guard and as a passer. He can score like I've never seen from a high school guy. I'm excited to be playing with him."

Earlier in April, Wilson had the opportunity to scrimmage the USA Under-18 Team, and on his squad during the scrimmage was former former NBA guard Steve Blake, who had three stints with the Portland Trail Blazers.

"The experience was really, really great," said Wilson. "It was motivation to keep working and get better. I felt that I could compete at that level. I was excited to be a part of it and play with such a talented group of guys."

Wilson plans on signing with Oregon State in November during the early signing period.
