Ward signs letter of intent

Bay Area News Group East Bay Player of the Year Terron Ward signed a National Letter of Intent Thursday to compete in football, Oregon State head coach Mike Riley announced.
Ward, a 5-7 running back from De La Salle High School in Concord, Calif., rushed for 2,050 yards and 28 touchdowns, and had two touchdowns via punt returns and one receiving. In addition to his awards as a running back, he also was a first team all-area selection as a cornerback.

A finalist for the Golden State's Mr. Football Player of the Year, he led De La Salle to the state title game where he scored three touchdowns and ran for 161 yards in leading the Spartans to the championship. He also had a game of 398 yards rushing during the 2009 season against
Monte Vista-Danville.
Terron's older brother, T.J. Ward, was a four-year letterman cornerback at the University of Oregon from 2006-09.
