Beaver commit taking official visit
Oregon State's lone official visitor for this weekend is basketball recruit Gianni Hunt, a three-star point guard who committed to the Beavers in August.
"I chose Oregon State because they were the most consistent during the whole recruiting process," Hunt said following his commitment. "They were the first school to recruit me. They started recruiting me my freshman year, and they stayed with the same consistency. I built a really good relationship with them and felt like it was the best choice for me.
Hunt is one of Oregon State's three commitments for the 2019 class. Fellow Beaver pledge Jarod Lucas will take his official visit in a few weeks, and Julien Franklin took his visit in January.
"You have to give Tinkle and his staff respect for being so thought-out with their intentions and doing so in advance," Rivals.com basketball analyst Corey Evans said about the Beavs' 2019 class. "They now have three class of 2019 commits before September; in a very down year that is 2019 and to get some of their top targets that early speaks volumes. Guards rule the game and while 2018 was a good group, this year’s crop might be even more important for the long-term other of the program."
BeaversEdge.com will catch up with Hunt following his official visit.
