Staff Picks: Oregon State vs. Nicholls State

Beavs end up calling off the dogs midway through the 3rd as the game becomes well in hand. Look for most of the 2nd half to be played by the young guys who finished off Cal & some of the outgoing seniors. Game will give a lot of these young guys valuable in-game experience leading into bowl prep & spring ball.

After last weeks tough loss to arch rival Oregon, the Beavers have the chance to end the regular season on a high note. This by all means should be an easy win, but Beaver Nation will not take any game for granted after Sacramento State last year. Look for the Beavers to have fun and regain confidence heading into their bowl preparation.

Travis Rice (6-5)

Nicholls State has big bodies up front defensively so I think Coach Riley will see that as an opportunity to work on the run game. Lots of Storm Woods in the first half and he probably heads into half time with about 100 yards. Whatever the situation at QB, both are capable of picking apart the NSU secondary and will do so. Mannion probably plays more in my opinion and Beavs total 350 yards through the air. Defensively these guys have to be chomping at the bit to get going and stop the run again. Physical D makes life difficult for NSU and there is a great chance for a shutout, which should be the goal for Banker's Crew. Game is over by mid 2nd quarter and we see the bench emptied in the 2nd half. Hopefully extended work for guys like Mullaney, Gwacham, Smith, Jabral Johnson, Josh Mitchell. 

Beavs not entirely focused, but just too much to handle for NSU. Lighthearted crowd of about 38,000 watches OSU finish the regular season with six more wins than a year ago.

Eric Machado (6-5)

Not the game that Oregon State wanted to finish with, but after the loss last week, this might be a nice lift for the Beavers and their fans. In all reality, this game will be a cake-walk. Nicholls State is BAD. I'm not sure at what point Riley will call off the dogs, but I doubt the 1's play into the second half. The game should be well in hand by the end of the 1st quarter.
