Sandberg recaps Oregon State official visit

Coming into his Oregon State official visit, City College of San Francisco (Calif.) defensive end Simon Sandberg wasn't very sure what to expect.

After all, Sandberg has only been living in the United States for a little over a year, coming over from Sweden. The recruiting process and visiting schools is all very new to Sandberg.

His time in Corvallis over the weekend ended up as a huge success though.

"I think it went well," Sandberg said. "They showed me around and showed me everything that I really needed to see. I really loved it."

A big area of need for Oregon State's 2019 recruiting class is on the defensive line, and the Beavers could use a junior college defensive end to plug and play. Sandberg certainly fits that mold.

But the Beavers aren't promising any playing time, and that's something that Sandberg greatly respects.

"It's not a given. I liked that honesty about it too," Sandberg said. "They're not promising me that I'll play. It's always going to be a competitive environment. They already have a young team, which makes things more competitive."

Sandberg is from a city in Sweden that has a population of about 100,000 people, so he's familiar with a small town feel.

"I liked it. I'm not from a huge town myself," he said. "The campus is kind of the main deal in the entire town. It basically makes out half of the town' population when in session."

Sandberg, who has three years to play three, will be signing in the December signing period and enrolling at his next school in January. Along with OSU, he holds an offer from Northern Arizona, but as of now, it doesn't look like Sandberg will be officially visiting NAU.

So moving forward, Sandberg is just taking things day by day.

"Kind of what I told (the Oregon State coaches) too was that we're going think on it," he said. "I'm really interested in (Oregon State). I'm taking it on a day-by-day basis ... I take it as it comes. That's always been my way of doing it."

Sandberg tore his ACL over the summer and had surgery in August. He is redshirting this fall at CCSF.
