Returning the favor

Washington State flipped JUCO defensive back Treshon Broughton from Oregon State. Can the Beavers return the favor?
That seems to be what Gary Andersen wants to do in the case of Jonah Moi.

Moi is a 6-foot-3, 245-pound, imposing inside linebacker from Riverside C.C., and he's been committed to Washington State for about a month now. Rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, Moi is evidently someone Andersen has been familiar with for a little while. Or, at the very least, he got acquainted with Moi quickly.
Oregon State offered Moi recently in spite of his commitment to Washington State, giving him something to think about.

"It's a great offer," Moi told BeaverBlitz.com. "I'm taking it into consideration."
When you ask Moi how solid he is to Mike Leach's program it's not like he makes an effort to stop the rumor mill from churning.
"I'm solid with them. I mean, I wouldn't mind going to Wazzu," he said. "But there are more schools coming in out of nowhere. So I'm just seeing what all is out there."
Indiana has also offered Moi and the Hoosiers are trying to make a run at the three-star JUCO prospect. But Oregon State is closer to where Moi's at now and Andersen is giving the program a jolt, telling recruits that he can take the Beavers to the next level.
Moi said Andersen has been impressive so far, from their limited contact, and he's listening intently. In fact, it's Andersen himself that is recruiting Moi. He appreciates the investment of time and energy on the part of Andersen, although he's getting used to a new place and overseeing a million things at once.
There's another reason Andersen is appealing.
"At my city college, the JUCO, we've got a coach that (Andersen) coached. Coach Pene (Talamaivao) played for him at Utah. My coach (Talamaivao) talked about him all the time," Moi said.
Moi said he does plan to take an official visit to Oregon State but the date has not been set yet. Still, he remains committed to the Cougars and he did commit to Washington State for a reason.
"I just felt a connection with the coaches there," he said. "The campus was crazy (at Washington State). And it's an up and coming program."
Moi had 84 tackles, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, an interception and a fumble recovery for a touchdown at Riverside C.C. this year.
