Reichle gearing up for Oregon State career

Wilsonville (Ore.) small forward Zach Reichle signed with the Oregon State Men's Basketball Team last fall and proved why he was worthy to play at the Pac-12 level his senior season.

He led Wilsonville to their second consecutive state championship and averaged 24.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game.

"It was a really fun year," Reichle said. "We went 27-1 and is the most winning school we've had at our school. It may not seem like it, but we had adversity during the season and had lots of close games. We were the defending state champions, so all of the teams were out to get us and got everyone's best effort. It was awesome to go back-to-back with all of the friends you grew up with."

Finishing off his high school career with a state title in Gill Coliseum, Oregon State's home floor, meant a lot to Reichle.

"It's something that I really, really wanted to accomplish," Reichle explained. "I wanted to win at the place I'd be at next year. After the Pac-12 Tournament in Vegas, I received support from the [OSU] players and coaches. It was really cool to see all of the support there."

What did Reichle improve on from his junior to senior season?

"I'd say the biggest thing is strength," Reichle answered. "I got a lot stronger in between my sophomore and junior season and that helped out my junior season, but I'd say that this year I was much more physically dominant. Getting stronger was a big thing, and I'm trying to perfect my shootings - that's always something I'm trying to get better at."

Reichle has June 25 circled on his calendar as the date he will get to Oregon State this summer.

"I keep in touch with [the OSU coaches] weekly," Reichle said. "Coach Tinkle came down to Wilsonville probably five times, and he saw me play at Oregon State, where the state tournament was held this year. He gives me a lot of support and I talk to the players every once in awhile."
