Rasmussen checks out Corvallis

At 6-foot-7 and 200-pounds, Chad Rasmussen of University Place (Wash.) Curtis is a two sport athlete. As a junior he threw for 1,600 yards and 18 touchdowns on the football field while putting up 12 PPG on the basketball court. Rasmussen already has some basketball offers from smaller schools and says that he's not interested in any at this point.
"I was all-league in basketball. I have given some thought to playing both sports in college, however I might consider doing that in a smaller school but I think it would be tough at a Pac 10 school. I think it would be best to focus on one sport unless there was any way I could be a help to the basketball team by joining them as well."

Rasmussen was recently in Corvallis for the half-day camp and came away impressed with Oregon State.
"I thought it went ok," explained Rasmussen regarding the camp. "I'm working on some mechanics so I wouldn't say I was at my best. However, for a big guy, I thought my footwork was good and hopefully they could see my mobility. I really like Oregon State. I feel like every year they are over achievers - nobody expects much from them but every year they go to a bowl game. I like the staff, facilities, and the campus. I could absolutely see myself playing for them - their offensive scheme is perfect for me."
"I did not have any in depth discussions with any of the staff [at the camp]. However, they were running a camp so it really wasn't the time. I did get some good comments from Coach Riley and Coach Langsdorf. I was very impressed with both of them." He went on to say "my dad has been in contact with Coach Langsdorf. I'm not sure how their discussions have gone. Coach Langsdof has mentioned they are looking for a pass first quarterback, I think I'm a good fit for OSU."
Rasmussen likes the setting of Oregon State too.
"Corvallis isn't huge but it is big enough. I grew up in Moscow, Idaho and Corvallis is bigger and not too far away from many other opportunities."
Although he is still waiting for his first offer he says that his current favorites are UCLA, Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State, and Cal.
"Right now I don't have any visits planned. I am however attending camp at both Washington State and Eastern Washington (this) week. I will wait till next school year to decide which schools I will visit. I can tell you that, if the opportunity is there, Oregon State will definitely be one of those schools."
Aside from the camps at Washington State and Eastern, Rasmussen doesn't have any other plans set up.
"I'm not sure about other camps right now. Our high school holds a camp as well and I feel it is important that I am there for team building purposes."
So what will be the biggest influence in his decision?
"The biggest influence will be the offensive scheme. My brother recently left Montana State University because they are changing their offensive scheme. I don't want to go through that. Oregon State has always been a pro style quarterback school. That really interests me."
The scouting report on Rasmussen is he's a big, strong armed quarterback that comes from a quarterback family. He is also pretty athletic for a 6-foot-7 quarterback. He feels that he has the intangibles that someone would be looking for in a quarterback to lead their program.
Rasmussen has been working hard in the weight room to improve for next season. He says he wants to put some weight on and get stronger before the start of his senior year.
