Poyer Named Thorpe DB of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio. - Oregon State cornerback Jordan Poyer was named the Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week on Wednesday after the senior helped guide the Beavers to a win over Washington State with three interceptions.
Poyer's three picks were the most by an OSU player since Mitch Meeuwsen intercepted three against Washington State in 2003. Poyer's interceptions helped seal Oregon State's 19-6 win over the Cougars Saturday, in which the Beavers allowed Washington State just 227 total offensive yards - 207 came through the air.

The honor is Poyer's second this week after he was named a Walter Camp Foundation National Player of the Week on Monday. The Astoria, Ore., native now has four interceptions on the year, which is tied for first in the Pac-12 Conference and tied for second nationally.
Poyer and the Beavers moved up to No. 10 in the Associated Press Top 25 rankings on Monday. It's the highest ranking for the Beavers since Oregon State opened the 2001 season ranked 10th.
