Poyer Earns AFCA 1st Team All-American Honors

Corvallis - Oregon State University senior cornerback Jordan Poyer has been selected to the prestigious American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) First Team All-America squad, it was announced Wednesday. Poyer is the first OSU player to earn AFCA First Team since offensive tackle Andy Levitre in 2008.
Earlier this week, Poyer was selected one of four Beavers to the Pac-12 Conference First Team, joining wide receiver Markus Wheaton, defensive end Scott Crichton and special teams standout Jordan Jenkins. Poyer has six interceptions this season, among the national leaders, and was a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award (top cornerback) and the Bednarik Award (top defensive player). The Astoria, Ore., native and co-team captain helped OSU have one of the best turnarounds in college football this season at 8-3 for the season.
He and his teammates conclude the 2012 regular season this Saturday as the No. 15 (BCS) Beavers host the Nicholls State Colonels at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are available by contacting OSU at 1-800-GO-BEAVS between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays or online at BeaverTickets.com. The game will air live on the Pac-12 Networks.
