CORVALLIS – The No. 17-ranked Oregon State women's basketball team extended its winning streak to eight games Sunday afternoon, as the Beavers defeated Washington State 71-53 at Gill Coliseum.

"I'm really proud of the win, and generally proud of the team this weekend for battling through their first Pac-12 games," said Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck. "I think we showed a lot of grittiness and toughness this weekend. We were supported incredibly well by another great crowd, and we're grateful for that. Washington State brought a great effort today. It was a great weekend overall and a great win today."

Sophomore Kat Tudor set a career-high with 27 points, as she converted seven 3-pointers, tying her for the third-highest single-game total in Oregon State history.

Senior Marie Gulich had another standout performance, going 8-for-13 from the floor to finish with 22 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks. The center has now posted double-doubles in five of her last six games, and has scored in double-figures in every game this season.

Sophomore Mikayla Pivec posted the second double-double of her career, finishing with 10 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, despite playing just 20 minutes due to foul trouble.

For the second-straight game the Beavers dominated the second half, out-scoring the Cougars 42-22 in the closing 20 minutes, and 22-10 in the third quarter.

As a team, Oregon State held a 56-26 advantage in rebounds, and held Washington State to 34.5 percent shooting.

The defenses dominated the opening stretch, as the Cougars ended the first quarter up 12-9.

The offenses began to heat up in the second period, as Tudor powered the Beavers out to a 27-23 lead at the media break. Washington State ended the first half on a 6-0 run to go to the intermission up 31-29.

The Beavers surged back in front early in the third quarter, taking the lead 34-33 less than four minutes into the frame. The teams traded baskets from there, until the Beavers scored 11 unanswered points to extend the lead to 12. Oregon State headed to the fourth quarter up 51-41.

OSU controlled the fourth quarter, maintaining the double-digit advantage to take the win by 18.

The Beavers will hit the road next week, as they head to California for a pair of Pac-12 contests in Los Angeles. Oregon State will begin the weekend Friday vs. UCLA.
