Oregon State the first P5 offer for Kansas TE
The state of Kansas is not exactly fertile recruiting ground for the Oregon State Beavers. They might go after a couple of junior college prospects in Kansas each year, but the high school ranks - not so much.
But the Beavers offered Jackson Heath, a tight end from Overland Park, Kansas, earlier this month.
Oregon State's connection to Heath is that Heath's brother, Blake Lawrence, played at Nebraska during the same time that OSU's current Assistant Athletic Director for Player Personnel, Vince Guinta, was a staff member there.
"Blake helped me contact him and we sent him my film," Heath said. "The coaches looked at it, and it seemed like they liked it pretty quickly. I got on a call with coach Wozniak from Oregon State, and then I got a call from coach Baldwin. That's when I got the offer."
Dave Baldwin, OSU's tight ends coach, delivered the good news to Heath.
