Mason Moran - Freshman Quarterback

Moran is the first quarterback on this list, and currently sits No. 2 on the depth chart behind Darell Garretson.

Strengths: Moran’s ability to make plays is where his strength lies. He’s not a guy who’s going to be able to launch the ball 50 or 60 yards down the field, but he’s extremely mobile and can make throws on the run very well.

Weaknesses: Arm strength and natural throwing ability. Moran is a lot like Garretson in the sense that his best attribute is his ability to run the ball. Moran doesn’t have a rocket for an arm, but can make the short throws on the run.

Spin: I’ve been talking about Moran positively since he’s become the backup quarterback for his ability to extend plays with his legs, make throws on the run, and make the correct read on the zone-reads. It’s hard to say where Moran will fit into the QB rotation beyond this season because we don’t know the type of QB that OSU’s new coach will want. If Moran can continue to develop his deep throwing ability and accuracy, he could figure into the QB battle next season.
