Gebbia practices in a limited capacity

Fresh off a thrilling 41-38 win over Oregon, the Oregon State football team (2-2) will be looking to keep its positive momentum rolling this weekend as they take on the Utah Utes (2-2) in Salt Lake City.

Just who plays at quarterback for the Beavers is very much the question as it'll truly be a wait and see approach in regard to starting quarterback Tristan Gebbia's health.

The 6-foot-2, 201-pounder suffered a significant hamstring injury on the penultimate play of Oregon State's go-ahead drive and will be monitored throughout the week.

During Tuesday's practice session, offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren said that Gebbia was able to go through a very limited practice session and that we'd just have to see where everything stands at the end of the week.

"He was limited today and it's something where we're going to take it day by day and see where he's at near the end of the week," Lindgren said. "Chance Nolan took a good amount of reps with the 1's and Tristan was pretty limited. We'll see how it all shakes out."

While the Beavers are toeing the line of preparing to have Gebbia/not have him, Lindgren said Nolan has been preparing each week to be ready if necessary and that he'll be ready to go should he get the nod.

"We've been giving him some more reps this week than usual, but he's got to prepare to be the starter and be ready to go should he be called upon."

Regardless of whether it's Gebbia at quarterback or Nolan, per wide receiver Champ Flemings, it's all the same.

"I really don't think it affects us at all," Flemings said. "Everybody in our room has confidence in Chance with what we can do and provide for our offense. As long as we stay focused and approach the week the same way, I don't think it'll change much."
