Oregon State 'felt like home' to Fuavai

In March, the Beavers offered Seattle (Wash.) O'Dea inside linebacker Ruperake Fuavai a verbal scholarship offer. It was a big moment for Fuavai as the Beavers were the first school to offer.

"I was thanking God for the opportunities he's given me and also thanking the coaches for watching my tape and deciding to offer me," Fuavai said.

Fuavai received the offer after talking with defensive line coach Legi Suiaunoa and linebackers coach Trent Bray. Fuavai was able to meet those two in person when he visited Oregon State this past weekend for the Beavers' annual spring game.

"I loved it. It was a great experience," the 6-foot-2, 225-pounder said. "I loved the atmosphere ad meeting the new coaching staff. I toured the facilities and watched the spring game. I loved it; I felt like I was at home."

Fuavai enjoyed his conversations with the Oregon State coaching staff while he was in Corvallis.

"I talked to mostly all of them," he said. "They were asking questions about my school and workouts. Those two guys [Suiaunoa and Bray] are the ones I'm mainly in contact with. It's been good. I've been learning a lot of things about Oregon State."

Fuavai kept an eye on the Oregon State defense throughout the scrimmage, and the defense looked good on the day, as they had a better performance than the offense.

"I think they played pretty good. I was watching how the defense played and what kind of defense they ran," he said.

Fuavai's lone offer still is from Oregon State, and he's receiving interest from other schools but is unsure of who could be the next to offer him. With spring ball on tap, Fuavai does not have any other visit plans coming up.
