Oregon State announces basketball signee Alfred Hollins
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State head coach Wayne Tinkle and his staff announced Wednesday the addition of Alfred Hollins who signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Beaver basketball program for the 2017-18 season.
Hollins, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound forward from San Francisco, Calif., joins a class that includes Zach Reichle, a 6-foot-5, 195-pound guard from Wilsonville, Ore., and Ethan Thompson, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard from Los Angeles, Calif.

Hollins attends Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix, Ariz., and is a four-star recruit by ESPN and Scout.com. He helped lead Hillcrest Prep to a national championship and was named Most Valuable Player of the semifinals when he had 18 points and six rebounds against Prolific Prep.
He attended Sacred Heart Cathedral in San Francisco, Calif., from his freshman through junior seasons where he was selected to the All-WCAL First Team twice and was a two-time team captain. He played AAU with the San Francisco Rebels and the Oakland Soldiers.
Hollins was named a Cp3 All-American and invited to the NBA Top 100 Camp and the John Lucas Camp.
ESPN.com describes Hollins as:
“One of the more promising wing-types out west. The willowy scorer can score from all three levels, but he is at his best when shooting the 3-point shot. He can nail the 3-point shot off the catch or convert his jump shot in transition. His release is quick and he has a nice arch on his shot. He can attack off the bounce and finish with either hand and he is not afraid to mix it up inside and rebound. In transition he is quite explosive and can easily finish above the rim.”

“We are very excited about the prospects of Alfred Hollins. He brings a great motor and is really going to add to our level of toughness and athleticism. But he’s more than that. He has a great skill level and can shoot and score from the outside and is a crafty finisher at the rim and above the rim.
“We love that we are adding a guy who sticks his nose in it defensively and will do the dirty work. He’s a high-level athlete who can play multiple positions offensively and guard multiple positions on the defensive end.”
Hollins chose Oregon State because of “the diverse community as well as the wonderful people that the university holds. The school is a good place for me to be able to grow and succeed as a person to get to where I attend on being.”
