Talented 6-foot-3 cornerbacks aren't easy to come by, so college coaches are highly interested in West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade's Dallas Taylor-Cortez. He's up to seven scholarship offers, and four of those schools are from a Power Five conference.
"It's all been going really fast," Taylor-Cortez said. "I got BYU back in October, and now all of the sudden, schools are offering back to back. It's a blessing."
Oregon State is one Taylor-Cortez's recent offer, and he has a high view of the Beavers, mainly due to his relationship with cornerbacks coach Cory Hall.
"I've been talking to coach Hall for a long time," said Taylor-Cortez. "He wanted to see how tall and fast I was in person. It's track season for me, so he got to see me run during track practice and talked to my track coach. (Coach Hall) had me call him later that day.
"I love his confidence, so we got along really well. We're like the same person."
Taylor-Cortez hopes to play in the NFL one day, so seeing OSU cornerback Treston Decoud get drafted by the Houston Texans raised Taylor-Cortez's eyebrows.
