Official Visitor Preview

These last few weeks prior to National Letter of Intent Signing Day mean big recruiting weekends for college programs, including Oregon State. With approximately five scholarships left for the 2014 class, the Beavers are looking to close strong, while also keeping the commits they have secured.

This weekend the Beavers will be welcoming at least seven committed athletes, while working to close strong on a couple of key cogs to the class. Here is a rundown of prospects that BeaverBlitz.com has confirmed will be on campus this weekend.

PROSPECTS

XAVIER HAWKINS-5'8", 165 pound wide receiver from Fulton, Tennessee may not have the 'star power' of others the Beavers are looking to close on, but he is one of Coach Brennan's key targets to finish off the class. The Beavers have already secured a commitment from receiver 6'4", 180 pound receiver Datrin Guyton, but are looking to add the speedy Hawkins to the mix for his ability to run the fly sweep.

COMMITS

DREW CLARKSON-6'3", 275 pound center from Camas, Washington will also be on campus this weekend to take his official visit to Oregon State. Clarkson just had a great performance earlier in the month at the Semper Fi All-American Game and is considered a strong commit for Coach Cavanaugh and the Beavers future on the offensive line.

GLYEB EWING-6'5", 235 pound defensive end from Waukon, Iowa, who like Bowman, shined at the Beavers camp in June. This will be a great weekend for the future bookends of the defensive line to bond and get to know other teammates.

DATRIN GUYTON-6'4", 180 pound wide receiver from Manor, Texas who has never visited the Oregon State campus. Guyton brings speed and athleticism and was an early target of Coach Brennan. He is a three-star prospect and rated the 97th best player in Texas.

SUMNER HOUSTON--6'3", 260 pound defensive end from Concord, California was an early commit to the Beavers, but has never wavered in his commitment. Just Thursday he was named to the 2nd team of the Student Sports All-American team, a national honor.

NICK MITCHELL-6'2", 190 quarterback from Snoqualmie, Washington was the first commitment for the 2014 class. Mitchell is very familiar with Oregon State's system as his older brother Josh is an offensive lineman for the Beavers. The three-star is rated the 6th best player in the state of Washington this year. He's a good student and a solid quarterback for the class.

TRENT MOORE-6'4", 235 pound offensive lineman from Chandler, Arizona who is making his official visit to campus this weekend as well. His commitment came out of the blue to many but Coach Cavanaugh saw enough to offer him a scholarship early this past fall. His biggest challenge will be bulking up to play against 300+ pound PAC 12 defensive linemen, but his technique and footwork are sound.

TANNER SANDERS--6'5", 198 pound athlete from Corvallis, Oregon is making his official visit to the hometown school. Sanders is an amazing athlete who could wind up in several positions depending on need. From quarterback to h-back to defensive back, Sanders is a versatile player who was a big in-state pick-up for the Beavers.
