Monday with Smith: Oregon State still planning on two QB's

After dropping a heartbreaker at Nevada, the Oregon State (1-2) will be looking to get back on track in the friendly confines of Reser Stadium as the Beavers host the Arizona Wildcats (1-2) in both teams’ Pac-12 opener.

BeaversEdge.com senior writer Brenden Slaughter was in Corvallis for Jonathan Smith’s weekly press conference and here’s what we learned.

Quick Hitters

- Quarterback Jake Luton, who suffered an ankle sprain against Nevada didn’t practice on Sunday, but Smith didn’t seem to think it was too serious and that they’d monitor his status throughout the week.

- Receiver Trevon Bradford didn’t make the trip to Nevada with a shoulder injury and is questionable for this weekend. Smith seemed hopeful they'll have him available.

- One really bit of good news from Smith was that he mentioned that tight end Noah Togiai has an outside chance to play this Saturday against Arizona. Given Smith’s vagueness with injuries in the past, I’d say there’s probably a very small chance we see him this weekend, but it’s extremely encouraging to see Togiai keeping pace with the original 4-to-6 week timetable that he was given after the Bend scrimmage. With how efficient the Beavers’ offense is humming under offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren, adding a weapon like Togiai would really make OSU a dynamic offense.
