Hacienda Heights (Calif.) Los Altos point guard and Oregon State pledge Jarod Lucas received an offer from the Beavers in October of 2017 while on an unofficial visit to OSU.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard returned to Corvallis this past weekend for the first time since his last visit.

"The highlights of my visit were watching the highlight video of the team on the new Jumbotron in Gill Coliseum as well as the fans that came up to me and congratulated me on my commitment," Lucas said. "I really felt the love from OSU. Last year the locker room was in construction and this year I was able to see the final product."

Lucas discussed the visit and the different players on the team he got to spend time with.

"The first night Warren Washington hosted me," Lucas said. "He showed me around Corvallis and a couple of the places where him and a couple other underclassmen hang out. Saturday afternoon, we had a lunch with the team, and I had a great time hanging out with the whole team. I really felt what Coach Tinkle and the rest of the staff preaches, one big family.

"On Saturday, Ethan Thompson hosted me, we were at the football game, with the rest of the team. The guys made me feel like we were brothers. I can’t wait to join them."

Lucas also enjoyed conversing with his future coaching staff.

"It was great spending time with the coaches," he said. "Coach Tinkle and the staff believe in my game, leadership skills, and what I bring to the team. They see me coming in and contributing to the squad and help our team win ball games."

If the energy that Beaver Nation brought to Reser Stadium last Saturday is similar to what they'll bring to Gill Coliseum, Lucas will be happy.

"It was great to see all the love the fans have for OSU at the football game," he said. "Even though the team lost, the student section was crazy, the whole game. I got the chills, hearing a couple of the OSU chants.

"I was seeing myself playing in Gill, with the same chants and energy going on."
