Corona (Calif.) Roosevelt defensive end Andy Koch made a trip to Oregon State on Tuesday, and it's safe to say that he was blown away with his time in Corvallis.

The 6-foot-6, 251-pounder committed to OSU during the trip and chose the Beavers over offers from Arizona, Boise State, BYU, Colorado, Harvard, Iowa State, and Washington State.

"I planned a trip to come up and we made the visit. The offer was for defensive end, and that's what I'm most passionate about," Koch said. "The atmosphere of Corvallis - I fit in it. It's nice and relaxed. It's definitely a place I can live at for the next four years of my life. From the recruiting people to the head coach to the stadium and facilities were just amazing.

"The campus and Corvallis is just beautiful. It's just a different scenery. Corvallis is nice, cool, beautiful, and green. It's nice to be in. The whole program is on the rise, and I'm just excited for this opportunity."

Most schools that were recruiting Koch wanted to use his length and athleticism on the offensive line, but the Beavers were the first school to offer him on the defensive line. That played a big role for Koch as he certainly prefers playing on defense.

"The defensive line coach [Chad Kauha'aha'a] was talking to me, and he is looking for players that are long and athletic," said Koch. "He said that I will fit that description perfectly and that I will make an impact on the team my freshman year. It was a really good feeling that I could be a difference maker for that team."

*Smalls will officially visit Oregon State

Earlier on Tuesday, Oregon State had a decommitment from Halid Djibril, which always makes fans question the word "commitment" in recruiting. But Oregon State ended the day strong with the commitment from Koch, who plans to stay true to his word.

"I am 100% committed and loyal to Oregon State University," he said. "I will take my official visit during the season and enjoy game day. I'm excited for what's to come."
