JUCO wide receiver adds Pac 10 offer

Oregon State has made Santa Clarita (Calif.) College of the Canyons a regular stop on the recruiting trail for years and this year is no different for the Beavers. Oregon State recently offered the top wide receiver from Canyons, who likely will be one of the top playmakers on the west coast.
Canyons receiver Hayo Carpenter is a lightning quick playmaker with a nose for the end zone. He took time on Sunday morning to tell us about his latest offers.

"I got a bunch more offers," Carpenter said. "Oregon State, Nevada, ASU, San Diego State and Boise State."
Carpenter is 5-foot-11, 185 pounds and lighting quick with a 40-yard dash time around 4.4 seconds. He finished with 1,188 yards and nine touchdowns as a freshman and was 12th in the state with 18.3 yards-per-catch.
Carpenter says he does not know much about Oregon State, but he likes them.
"Oregon State offered about a month ago," Carpenter said. "The wide receiver coach called and told me they were offering a full ride. I like it. They are like a pro style offense. They spread the ball around and like to go vertical. I don't know much except Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh came out of there."
Carpenter had received offers from Minnesota and Washington State during the spring and says most of the action started happening about a month ago.
"Most of them all came in about the same time, a month ago," Carpenter said.
Carpenter says he does not have any early favorites.
"I won't know until I start looking at places," Carpenter said. "I am keeping my options open. Most of them want me to come on visits."
Carpenter graduated from Burroughs Ridgecrest High School (Calif.) in 2006 and greyshirted out of high school before playing for the Cougars in 2007. He was being recruited by Nebraska, Arizona and Sacramento State before failing to qualify academically. Carpenter is on track to leave in December with three years left to play two years of football at a school of his choice.
