JuCo quarterback Jack Colletto commits to the Beavers

Oregon State has been searching for a second quarterback in the 2018 class alongside of Jake Dukart, and the Beavers' coaching staff has found their man.

Yuma (Ariz.) Arizona Western C.C. quarterback Jack Colletto announced on Friday evening that he committed to the Beavers over Vanderbilt.

As a senior at Camas High School in Washington in 2016, Colletto led his team to a 14-0 perfect season, obviously capped off with a state championship. He threw for 2,800 yards and 27 touchdowns. He was named the Washington player of the year by several sources, including being tabbed the Gatorade Player of the Year.

Often times when a recruit goes the junior college route, there are academic concerns involved, but that is certainly not the case with Colletto. He was being pursued by a very high academic school in Vanderbilt, which speaks to his ability in the class room.

As a true freshman in AWC in 2017, Colletto completed 39-of-67 passes for 548 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception as the backup on the NJCAA national runner-up team behind Virginia signee Bryce Perkins.

Colletto will sign with Oregon State on Wednesday and will be able to enroll for the spring term to take in spring football at OSU. He will be a sophomore with a redshirt year available.

"I enjoyed my visit, and I just wanted to see the school and the facilities along with the coaches and how they interacted," Colletto said following his visit. "They were all first class people and the coaches just told me their vision for the program which seemed promising. Both coach Smith and Lindgren [are] good people with bright minds."
