Hott finds home at Oregon State

Beau Hott spent a week in Corvallis not long ago and that was all he needed to see. He committed to Oregon State on Tuesday.
Hott returned to his home in Plano, Tex., after a mid-summer trip to Oregon State, where he spent several days. It was a much longer trip than most unofficial visits are.

That extended trip gave Hott all the information he needed to make an educated decision. He confirmed his commitment with BeaverBlitz.com on Tuesday evening.
"Really my trip to Corvallis was very good," Hott said. "While I was there I really felt like it was a place I could call home comfortably for four or five years. I really liked the coaches and all the players seemed to like it. Even the players that had been drafted were still hanging out there and loved it, almost like they didn't want to leave."
That home away from home is what Hott was looking for. After spending time in the state, and not just in Corvallis, he's comfortable with his choice. Hott traveled quite a bit while he was on his trip to Oregon State so he knows the lay of the land on campus, in town and everywhere else.
"The school itself, the academic part, seemed pretty promising to me," he said. "With the academic support they have for the athletes and the study hall, I really liked that. That was a major decider for me.
"Also, the campus was just absolutely breathtaking. It's one of the neatest campuses I've seen."
Hott had received offers from Air Force, ULM, Memphis, New Mexico and North Texas before settling on the Beavers as his choice. He's a solid commitment for the Beavers and is pledge No. 8 for Mike Riley's program from the 2015 class.
He is Oregon State's first offensive line commitment in this recruiting cycle.
